About Scott Howe

Scott HoweScott Howe has won awards for his work as a writer, filmmaker, graphic and web designer, music composer, and painter. After attending college, he wrote and produced radio commercials, industrial videos and television commercials. In addition to his work behind the scenes, he also created numerous character voices for on-air radio spots while working as a freelance sound engineer.

 

His interest in films and filmmaking began at an early age when his father introduced him to the original 1933 film, King Kong. He followed his passion for film into college, where he studied filmmaking, television production, and film history. His writings on the silent film era have been published, both in popular film books and journals. 

 

His first film, The Trade, received accolades for Best Story in its film festival debut and was later considered for honors at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008. His next short film, Kindred, recreated the historical cholera epidemic of 1850 which occurred in Sacramento, California. That film received top honors for Best Acting and Best Special Effects and went on to win the Cultural Perspectives award in the national Hometown Video Awards festival, held in Washington D.C.  Scott's third short film, Section Eight, received the award for Best of Program in the 2007 10x10 Filmmaker Challenge as part of the Sacramento Film and Music Festival. In the summer of 2010, Scott's music video for the indie folk trio, The Zoo Human Project was awarded the "Sac Music Seen’s" top honor as Best of Program during the 2010 Sacramento Film & Music Festival. Later that year, it was again honored in a special viewing for the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission.

 

Currently, Scott is co-writing two feature-length screenplays; the first is based on the life of silent film actress, Louise Brooks; the other, an autobiographically-based romantic comedy, Made In China. He lives with his wife, RuiXia in Sacramento, California and their daughter, Mao XiinYue currently attends U.C. Berkeley.
